Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using SkimZero Vault ("the App") you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and SkimZero Lab (Damaso Sanchez Cervantes). Your use of the App is also governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) for App Store apps (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula).

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on any Apple device you own or control, subject to these Terms and the App Store Terms of Service. You may not:

• Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease the App or any part of it.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code.
• Use the App to develop a competing product or service.
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels.

Core vault features require no account. The optional cloud-assisted recovery feature requires you to provide an email address, used solely to verify your identity and deliver one-time passwords (OTPs). You are responsible for the accuracy of the email you provide and for maintaining access to it. You may delete your recovery account at any time from Settings → Recovery Account → Delete Account.

By using SkimZero Vault, you agree to the following:

• Safeguard your credentials. Your PIN, recovery key, TOTP secret, and backup password are your sole responsibility; we cannot recover them if lost.
• Back up your recovery key. It is displayed once during setup; store it securely offline. Losing all third-factor credentials (TOTP + recovery key) after a lockout may result in permanent loss of access.
• Use lawfully. You may not use the App to store, transmit, or conceal illegal content or to facilitate illegal activities.
• Age requirement. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction).

The App is designed so that we cannot access your vault data. This is a feature, not a limitation of our support. As a consequence:

• If you forget your PIN and lose all third-factor recovery credentials, your vault data is permanently inaccessible; we cannot help you recover it.
• If you enable the duress PIN and enter it, the vault is wiped immediately and cannot be recovered by us.
• The optional recovery backend can restore only the vault key factor; it cannot restore vault content because we never receive it.

All intellectual property rights in the App — source code, design, trademarks, and content — are owned exclusively by SkimZero Lab. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership to you. "SkimZero Vault" and "SkimZero Lab" are proprietary names of SkimZero Lab. The App incorporates open-source software listed in the Third-Party Notices, subject to their respective licenses.

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE AGAINST ALL ATTACKS.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SKIMZERO LAB SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice or App Store release notes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept the new Terms, stop using the App.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the optional recovery backend if you violate these Terms. Termination of backend access does not affect the locally-stored vault data on your device.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Mexico, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the competent courts of Mexico City, Mexico, unless applicable consumer protection law requires otherwise.
